Outboard Maintenance and Care
After enjoying your boat for the day or week, rinsing the external components and flushing the engine will help to keep it running as it should. Operation in Salt-Water without flushing can induce internal corrosion of the engines internal cooling system. Raw water-cooled engines are more susceptible to this than intercooled marine engines. Correct flushing with fresh water helps to remove salt deposits and reduce corrosion. Jack-plates, Power-poles, and the trim and tilt systems all function longer when properly rinsed after use in salt-water.
